AP Environmental Science
AP Environmental Science is a full contact sport! Of all the students who take the AP Environmental Science exam, only half will pass it.
However, for more than seven years, my student pass rate on the AP Environmental Exam has consistently been 75-80%, which is 25-30% above both the state and national pass rate.
Teaching the curriculum set out by College Board includes a multi-level approach to reach a wide range of students. To cover the breadth of the curriculum, in a single class we will touch on 4-5 topics, do a lab or activity, as well as other reinforcement with classwork. This level of commitment is fast-paced, and students frequently rise to meet the performance goals for the day.
To supplement the coursework, my students participate in a yearly fieldwork event on the Chattahoochee River and Lake Lanier. During this event, we either kayak down the river and back or take the floating classroom the Chota Princess II out on Lake Lanier. Throughout the day, we conduct various aquatic studies to analyze the water quality of the river and lake system that Metro Atlanta relies on.
